Psalm 62:5-8

Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.  My victory and honor come from God alone.  He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.  O my people, trust in him at all times.  Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.

As I look at our world today, it seems that it is coming unraveled. All that we have depended on humanly in the past has been shaken. I realize over the past months how much this has affected me. We are living in very uncertain times and my faith and hope need to be centered in Jesus Christ and my future with Him. Each day I am challenged to learn to rest in the security of God. I need to reflect on the reality that God the Father sent his Son to be my only source of salvation, rest and safety. My soul can be at peace knowing that my Savior is in control and that He holds me in His hand. Each day God will give me the strength and courage to face whatever happens and not be greatly shaken.

I appreciate the Psalmists as they express their heartfelt thoughts to God. When David’s world was out of control, his soul waited in silence and found rest in God alone. God was his complete source of calmness when his world was falling apart. David knew that God was the only means of his salvation physically and spiritually. As a result he would not be greatly shaken. David felt at ease like a warrior who is secure in an impregnable fortress. He knew that in life, God was the only place of safety from all enemies. He could have complete trust in God alone. May we follow David’s example today.

Prayer:
Dear God, thank You for being that safe place I can run to in the midst of life’s problems. Thank you for the sense of peace and safety you will give me through Jesus Christ, Your Son. Amen.
