Micah 7:7

But as for me, I will be on the watch for the Lord;
I will wait for the God of my salvation.
My God will hear me.

In his Gospel, Luke records what happened when the people saw the power of God demonstrated before their eyes. Pastor Jon calls them “God-sightings” and “God-moments.” They can be amazing spiritual vista points, if we just take the time to look.

. . . they were all struck with astonishment (“ecstasy,wonderment,” Greek: extasis) and began glorifying God; and they were filled with fear (“reverence, awe, responding to power,” Greek: phobos), saying, ‘We have seen remarkable (“unexpected, incredible, wonderful, uncommon,” Greek: parodoxos) things today’ (Luke 5:26).

In my church office I have a ship’s bell I call “The Praise Bell.” When I first moved in, I encouraged my ministry staff to ring the bell whenever they wanted to have us all join them in praising God for something unexpected He did .Admittedly, few but me have done it (It is quite loud!).

In Micah 7:7 the prophet expresses he will watch expectantly for the Lord. These same words are used of a watchman and remind me of modern-day guards whose instructions are, “Look up. Look down. Look all around.”

As our day unfolds, we need to take some time to look all around for the amazing things God did and then “remark about the remarkable.” In fact, drop by my office and ring the praise bell!
