Isaiah 55:8-9 – "For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts." (NASB)
So many things go on in the life of a believer. The good, the bad, and the ugly. The ups and downs of day-to-day life. While the Christian life often brings great joy and peace, it also includes trials, tribulations, and seasons of intense struggle. There are seasons when life feels like a puzzle with missing pieces. We pray, we plan, we try to understand what God is doing, yet the picture in front of us looks nothing like what we hoped for. Isaiah 55 reminds me that this isn’t a sign of God’s absence; but it is evidence of His greatness.
No matter what you are going through, God has a “Better” plan. God sees the entire landscape of our lives, while we often see only the next step in front of us. His ways aren’t just different from ours; they are “Better”, wiser and rooted in a love that refuses to settle for anything less than what will shape us, strengthen us, and draw us closer to Him.
I was listening to a song the other day by Jeremy Camp called “Better”. Jeremy Camp’s song “Better” echoes this truth. The heart of the song is a declaration that God’s plans, presence, and purposes are “Better” than anything we could build on our own. In the last two lines of the chorus of the song it states:
Better, Better, Better
Even if it never gets better, I'll still trust in You
Even when circumstances feel confusing or painful, the song points us back to the reality that God is working something deeper and more beautiful than we can yet see. The questions I have for you today are:
My Prayer: Lord, Your ways are higher than mine, and Your thoughts stretch far beyond what I can see. Teach me to trust You when I don’t understand. Help me to believe that Your plans are better than anything I could create on my own. Give me the peace and patience while waiting for your perfect timing. Amen.

- Where in your life are you trying to make sense of something God hasn’t explained yet?
- What would it look like to release your own needs and truly trust Him instead?
- How might your perspective shift if you believed, truly believed, that God’s “Better” is already in motion and that you may never know why?
