21 Days of Prayer for the Lost: Day 21

Not Ashamed

Romans 1:16 – "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek." (ESV)

As we come to the last day of the “21 Days of Prayer” the question naturally is what now? The answer should hopefully be obvious, we have been praying for our city, our neighbors, our world, and that is awesome, but we now have to go tell them about Jesus! This can seem a little daunting, it's a lot easier to pray for people without them knowing than to have to go and actually speak with people. But why should we feel like the good news we have to offer is something to be timid about?

The “tolerant” world has taught us that whatever we want to believe is great, just so long as we keep it to ourselves. I think this subtle attack has caused many Christ followers to retreat like a turtle into its shell and resort to practicing our faith in secret and out of the view of others for fear of offending anyone. All the while the world is trying to shove its beliefs down our throats. I think Satan is perfectly happy with a Church that stays within its own walls and doesn’t tell anyone about Jesus.

The time has come for us to be bold, to step out in faith, knowing that God is with us, and share the love of Christ with those around us. It is not our job to convert or save, but rather to simply share the Good News, to provide a defense for the hope that is within us. If you had cancer and didn’t know it, would you want to live in ignorance until you suddenly started to die in agony never understanding what went wrong? Or would you accuse the doctor who communicated your reality along with the painful steps needed to achieve remission of fear mongering and trying to ruin your life with painful but ultimately helpful medicine?

That is the gospel, it is the message of salvation to an otherwise hopeless and condemned people. It is the story of a loving and merciful God that made the ultimate sacrifice so that a way might be made for us imperfect and rebellious creatures. All we need to do is believe in Jesus! John 3:18 says “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already…” We have the cure! We know who the Great Physician is! How can we not share this amazing news, that there is hope for our eternity?

Not only should we not be ashamed, we MUST not be ashamed of the Gospel of Christ! For it is the power of God to salvation for EVERYONE who believes. How can they believe if they do not hear? It’s up to us to share the news!

Things to pray for today:
  • Pray for the “Each One Win One” outreach initiative that our church will be focusing on throughout 2026!
  • Pray that God will put someone in your path for you to share the Gospel with.
  • Pray that God will give you a burden for the lost and provide you the words to say when the opportunity comes to share the Gospel.
