"The Beginning of the Rest of My Life"
Since November 17, 1971—the day I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior—two passages have risen to become my life verses. The first is Daniel 11:32 “…the people who know their God will display strength and take action.” The second is Acts 13:36 “For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep, and was laid among his fathers…” The first passage continues to challenge me to daily pursue a more intimate knowledge of God so that I might display His amazing power to the world and take Spirit-led action that points people to Him. The second passage continues to call me to serve God’s sovereign purposes—and not mine—for as long as I have breath.
After thirty years of ministry here, December 31, 2025, is my last day as a part of the pastoral staff of Campus Bible Church. We recently received a greeting card that spells out what is expected in retirement. R.E.T.I.R.E.M.E.N.T. = Relax. Enjoy the ride. Try something new. Imagine the possibilities. Remind yourself to play. Expect adventures. Make new plans. Entertain a few wild ideas. Nap without guilt. Take time just for you (Copyright ©AGC LLC). Frankly, we plan on doing all of those—especially the guilt-free naps! However, I am most excited about pursuing imagined possibilities, expected adventures, new plans, and even some wild ideas.
I now enter a new phase as Pastor Emeritus of Campus Bible Church, serving as an active member of this local church and, like you, using my gifts to love, equip, and encourage this flock. I will also be giving more attention to my local and global ministry as the President of JARON Ministries International. There are books to write, seminars to teach, leaders to train, and open doors of opportunity ahead. In the words of the once-popular movie, Princess Bride, I am not dead yet—just “mostly dead.” Some would say I am retired. I would say I am refired and rewired—displaying His strength and taking action—until I fulfill the purpose of God in my generation before I “fall asleep” in the arms of Jesus. Thank you for your love and support in the past, present, and future. To God be the glory for what He has done, is doing, and will do!
