“I Lift My Eyes”

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2

Noise. Emails. Notifications…. before we know it, it can all become such soul clutter! And since our enemy, the “god of this age” the devil (2 Corinth 4:4), is committed to building a culture that steers us away from our divine source of life, Jehovah Shalom, we must stay very aware of this subtle but strategic influence we live day in and day out. The human heart and mind is being influenced in such unique ways in 2021, like never before in human history. What we call “normal” is so much different than how mortals have ever had to live in millennials past, and yet our human need is still the same…” the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

This beautiful “Psalm of Ascent” in Psalm 121 is so helpful to align our souls…I know it’s true for my soul. You may know it by the old chorus, which is one we’ve sung at night with our children for years and helps warm the heart Heavenward. It also asks the obvious question, “…where does my help come from?” Isn’t that such a simple yet profound question, surely with the backdrop of potentially the “loudest” time humans have ever had to exist?

So today, join me in reading this precious passage one more time, with the Spirit’s guide:

Psalm 121:1-2  - “I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Let’s keep our eyes up high today friends, and I’m confident our souls will bubble over with strength and grace, keep us from the frazzled norm, and cause us to be little oasis to the many in need all around us!
