John 12: 23-24, 26

Whew!  Our trailer is packed with everything, including the kitchen sink! My hubby has checked to be sure the trailer is securely hitched to our vehicle.  We ease our tired bodies into the front seats of our Chevy Tahoe. After a heartfelt prayer, the journey begins!  I look into the mirror and watch the trailer mimicking us. I feel our vehicle jiggle over a bump in the road…I watch the trailer jiggle over the same bump.  As I fixate on the faithful trailer following us, I am struck with a thought.  I yearn to faithfully FOLLOW Jesus through all the jiggles and bumps in life!  I want to be so connected with the Lord, I follow Him no matter what challenges in life I face.

My prayerful thoughts lead me to John 12:23-24 and 26

John 12:23-24 “And Jesus answered them, the hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.”
John 12:26 “If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also.”

In this passage, Jesus refers to his upcoming sacrificial death on the cross which will secure our salvation. The fruit of His sacrifice provided the way for us to FOLLOW Him, now and ultimately to our home in Heaven with Him.
Oh, God, thank you for the immeasurable gift You gave us! You gave me! What a privilege to FOLLOW Jesus!
My heart responds, yes!  I will FOLLOW Jesus every day through all the jiggles and bumps of life! And then ultimately, when God says it is time… I will FOLLOW Jesus to Heaven! My forever Home!

We pull into our spot in the trailer park.  I am filled with joy, as I step out on to the lush green grass and view the towering majestic trees. The squirrels race playfully up the trees. This will be a perfect place to rest and be refreshed.
I have much to contemplate.

PARENTS:
  • Help your kids memorize John 12:26
  • Pull your kids around the yard in a wagon. Then stop and illustrate the word…FOLLOW with the wagon.
  • Talk about how important it is to follow God when times are easy and when times are hard. Give examples from your own life.
