Proverbs 27:1

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.

You have big plans, I know. We all do. You do, I do, we do.

We expect BIG things for the future.

We work hard. We play hard. We guess and plan and hope and prepare and pray.

We trust God. We trust that God will provide, that He’ll bless our work, that He’ll grant us the fruit of our labor.

And that is all good. You should keep doing that. Work, play, guess, plan, hope, prepare, pray, and keep on trusting God. That is a beautiful recipe for success.

But don’t boast. No, don’t do that.

Boasting is not only unwise, it is sin. Nasty sinful thing, boasting is.

Do the good and not the bad.

Don’t work and boast.

Don’t play and boast.

Don’t guess and boast.

Don’t plan and boast.

Don’t hope and boast.

Don’t prepare and boast.

Don’t pray and boast.

Don’t trust and boast.

Pray and trust God for the results. But don’t pray and boast about future results.

I’m not God. You’re not God. I can’t even be sure what will happen in two minutes from now, let alone tomorrow or next week or on September 15, 2044. (If God lets me live that long.)

Let’s be grateful for what we have today, plan for the future, and trust God with the results. That’s a recipe for success.

Be grateful. Plan. Trust God.

May God richly bless you, my friends!
