Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

The small word “IS” jumps out at me. This beloved Psalm reveals what God IS in my life.

He is an ATTENTIVE PROVIDER of my needs.
He is my LEADER to refreshment.
He is the DOCTOR of my needy soul.
He is my GUIDE to good choices.
HE is my COMPANION through all the danger, and even death this sinful world throws at me.
He is my AUTHORITY and my WARRIOR; I am safe with Him.
He is my VICTOR over enemies.
He is my BLESSING, beyond my wildest imagination.
He is my HOME forever.

MY LORD IS my SHEPHERD.

FOR PARENTS:

1. This Psalm has such rich teaching for your kids. Help them memorize it.
2. Post this Psalm in a prominent place in your home.
3. Teach your kids what God is like through this Psalm.
4. When your kids go to bed at night make it a habit to give a testimony of an event in your life to your kids. It can be something in your past or even that day. Describe what you learned about God through that event.
