Ruth 4:14

Blessed is the Lord who has not left you without a redeemer today and may his name become famous...

I recently read a touching eulogy as a friend spoke of the deceased as a man “on a mission to go from his best interpretation of what the Bible says to his best imitation of how Jesus lived.” Oh, how I would want that to be said of you and me.

Given the way some of our lives are unfolding, we have a lot of work to do for a statement like that to be true. It is a life message that begins with a renewed passion. In the words of C.S. Lewis: “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

I do not know whether I will be around tomorrow, but I do know how to make it through today. I must do so, holding on to the promise given to Ruth by the women of old as she entered a new phase of her life:

Blessed is the Lord who has not left you without a redeemer today and may his name become famous... (Ruth 4:14).

May our blessed Redeemer help us to do this day well, knowing He will be with us every moment. May our daily lives make Him famous for generations!
