Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
On any given day we have to manage the normal activities of life. The reality is that we often push ourselves beyond normal human limits. Today we need to be reminded again of the words of the Psalmist… “Be still and know that I am God.” Sadly we have often developed the mindset that we must do more and more if we are to earn God’s smile and approval. We falsely believe the more exhausted we are (and look!) the more committed we are to spiritual things. The Psalmist tells us to be still…literally to stop striving. Without taking the time to be “still”, we will never learn to enjoy God if we are continually racing through life. We will not experience God in a deep intimate way. We need to learn the value of “being” and not “doing.” What steps can you take today to step back in your work-driven, performance oriented world and enjoy being God’s child?
