Luke 12:27

"Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these."

There are rocks everywhere in the land of Israel.  In the countryside of Israel, I was amazed to see beautiful lilies and roses growing in the crevices and cracks of the rocks.  There is a saying, “I am between a rock and a hard place.” This can describe a difficult position or choice.   Well, right now I think we can all say we are “between a rock and a hard place”.   The question is, will my faith in God bloom in this situation?  That’s the message I think of when I “Consider the lilies.” God is my Master Gardner.  I pray I will look to God and allow him to work in my life during this difficult and challenging time. I want my faith to “bloom” between the rocks!

Parents: How do we apply this for our children?
1.   Every morning spend time in the Word of God, no matter how short!
2.   Read a kids’ devotional.
3.   Post Scripture on the mirror, refrigerator or all around the house.
4.   Draw pictures or act out a Bible story.
5.   Have the kids dress up as their favorite Bible character (i.e. David and Goliath, Joseph, Mary, Noah).
6.   Plant a flower and put rocks around it and talk with the kids about how God grows us in times of trial.
7.   Reward your kids for verses memorized.
