Jeremiah 51:16, 19b
"When He utters His voice—There is a multitude of waters in the heavens: 'He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightnings for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries."..."And Israel is the tribe of His inheritance. The Lord of hosts is His name." (NKJV)

Last Sunday, my husband Gary and I went for a drive. We had not planned where we would go. We were supposed to go out of town, but a family emergency had kept us close to home. All was well at this point, so we decided a short day drive would be a nice get away. When we got in the car, we decided to go up to Shaver Lake, have lunch, and see the high water in the lake from all the rain we have had and the snow in the mountains. When we got up to the lake, we were astonished that it did not look any different from before. Maybe it was a little higher and people were on the shores enjoying the water, but definitely not what we were expecting.

As we drove further, we saw a forest service truck on the side of the road so Gary decided to pull over and talk to the ranger to see why the lake was still "down." Gary is like that, he loves to talk to people and get their stories 😊 The ranger was talking to another man who worked up at California Edison where they make decisions about when they empty water from the dam into the lakes and rivers. When we asked them our question about why the lake was so low, they said it was because they were preparing for when the snowpack in the mountains would begin to melt. He said there was enough snow up there to fill the lakes 11 times, so they are getting ready!

As I read this passage above, and considered what this man said, I was reminded of the mighty power of God's voice. As I continued to read through Jeremiah 51:20–23 the words "with you" start almost every verse, and I was reminded that in the mountains and in the valleys God is with me. In times of want and in times of plenty, God is with me... His Word prepares me for those times of want and times of plenty. Sometimes we forget the storehouse he has ready for us, because this life can seem so drear and empty. That is what Satan likes to do: steal our hope. But God's home is full of plenty. And the storehouse of His Word is there and ready right now to pour into us as we need it.

From "The Blessing"  (Based on Numbers 24)
May his presence go before you
And behind you and beside you
All around you and within you
He is with you He is with you
In the morning in the evening
In your coming and your going
In your weeping and rejoicing
He is for you He is for you
The Lord bless you and keep you
Make his face shine upon you
And be gracious to you
The Lord turn his face toward you
And give you peace
