Daily Devotional

"Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do."
Colossians 3:12-13

We must remember that as Christians we are called to be set apart. We should look different to the world. These verses describe in part what that should look like, that we should be full of mercies, humility, meekness, and long suffering. These things are not that hard during easy times or with easy people, however can be more challenging during times of shaking and with people that are hard to love.

But Christ loved us at our worst, while we were still sinners He loved us and gave His life for us. It is good for us to remember that when people seem unlovable and difficult to treat them as Christ would, with love, mercy, and long suffering. This is how we will stand out and shine for Christ in a dark world. How can we be a witness for Christ if we look and act like everyone else.

So let me challenge you as you go about your day and week to look for ways you can be Christ’s love with skin on. Be proactive in your efforts to be more like Christ in your interactions with others so that you will be more likely to respond well in situations where you might otherwise act worldly. Pray and ask God to give you opportunities to be His love in people’s lives so that you may reflect the Love of Christ in this ever darkening world.
