Exodus 36:5-6

“...The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work which the LORD commanded us to do...And the people were restrained from bringing,
for the material they had was sufficient for all the work to be done--indeed too much."

I think about all the work that the Lord would want us to do and it seems so much more than is possible. And yet here, the people had to be restrained because they had provided more than was needed. Two thoughts go through my head...One...wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to announce to our congregation that they needed to stop giving because we had more than we needed to do the work the Lord was calling us to do. The other... It's really important to make sure that the work we are doing is really a work God wants us to do. There are a lot of really great things we can be a part of that can fulfill "The Great Commission," but they might not be what the Lord wants us to do. Maybe there is another person, group, or church that needs to be called to do it for their own spiritual growth and have the people ready and waiting to give in such a way that they will need to be restrained because they provided more than what was needed. Sometimes saying no isn't shirking our responsibility, sometimes it's a way God uses to provide the opportunity for the "right" person/people to do the work. On the other hand, I pray that we will see the abundance of giving, to the work God has called us... giving to such a point we have to be restrained:)
