Acts 13:36

For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep.

In Proverbs 16:4 we are reminded that the Lord has made “everything” for its own purpose. Might that also include each of us? Let’s rehearse a few of our purposes for being alive today:

• “I am a Beloved Child of God. Today, I will not lose focus on who I am and what I am called to do.”

• “I am a Soldier of the Cross. Today, I will not let myself get distracted from my duty to my Commander.”

• “I am a Servant of God. Today, I will obey my Master at all costs.”

• “I am an Ambassador of Jesus Christ. Today, I will represent my King in everything I say and do.”

• “I am a Messenger of the Gospel. Today, I will join with others in praying and participating in sharing the good news with the world.”

Now, I ask you to join me, one day at a time, striving to fulfill “the purpose of God in our generation,” before we “fall asleep."
