Team No Quit
Psalm 34:4–7 - "I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them." (ESV)
I remember a time when my grandmother hated video games. She’d say things like, “They’re destroying our young kids' minds.” To which I’d laugh and just say, “Oh silly grandma!” But today, I’m starting to think that Granny was right. Especially, as it relates to a term, I’m not too sure you’re familiar with; “rage quitting”. Rage quitting is such a viral phenomenon, that clips of numerous people performing the act have been complied and forwarded on to others to be entertained by. The phenomenon occurs when people are so frustrated with the video game, they're playing they quit playing by destroying everything around them, oftentimes including their computers or consoles they are playing on. Whenever I see behavior like this, I think to myself, “Is this how this individual is going to respond in life anytime they feel stuck?” Obviously, that is such a poor way to handle difficulty. But if quitting when you feel stuck in life isn't the answer, what is?
Sometimes it can be difficult to recognize our need for help and ask for it. But that’s exactly what we’re called to do. When we’re honest, it opens us up to the Lord and allows us to receive the help that we need from him. If we look at feeling stuck as a sign of weakness or an indicator that we don’t have everything together, that again, will make it hard for us to reach out and ask for help. Rather we should look at our asking for help as a sign that shows how much trust we have in God. All we need to do is call out for help. No matter what kinds of situations we might find ourselves in or how stuck we might feel, when we feel stuck, God can and does guide us. However, we must talk to Him, we must trust that He will guide us, and we must put into practice the guidance that He provides.
