Life Promise

I am struck by the profound simplicity of the promise made by the LORD to His people:

Isaiah 46:3-4  “Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, And all the remnant of the house of Israel, You who have been borne by Me from birth and have been carried from the  womb. Even to your old age I will be the same, and even to your graying years I will bear you! I have done it, and I will carry you; and I will bear you and I will deliver you.”

Let’s reflect on these wonderful words of comfort:

From your birth…i.e., from the womb:
• You have been borne by Me
• You have been carried by Me

Even in your old age…i.e., your graying years:
• I will bear you
• I will carry you
• I will deliver you

In other words, “ I will be the same….I have done it!”

To paraphrase this Old Testament promise: “What I, the LORD, did when you were born and throughout your life, I will do again.”

In the New Testament words of hope: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

In other words, “From womb to tomb, I’ve got you.”
