Does Amazon sell peace yet?!
John 14:27- “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
A new year, with new hopes…but can you say you genuinely sense His tangible peace as your reorient for 2022? Our whole puts so much attention on progress as well as entertainment, and yet neither of them provide us lasting peace. Yet as followers of Jesus who are invited to live in His peace, that He promised in John 14 no matter the chaotic world that surrounds us, we are to be little pockets of light, reflecting the Savior.
To answer the obvious title question, sadly even Amazon will never be able to stock peace on their digital shelves, as this can only be given by Jesus who is the Prince of Peace. The One who was born in a humble stable, to bring “peace on earth and good will to men.” Yet it’s sad to think so many of us still strive to capture joy and peace, outside of the One who made us as Colossians 1: 17 tells us “…in Him all things hold together.” Instead, in vein it’s easy to first reach for our phone as we roll out of bed in the morning, rather than calling to the One who’s “…ears are attentive to” the prayers of the righteous. (1 Peter 3:12)
So as we step into yet another year, join me friends in acknowledging the LACK of our world, and the ABUNDANCE found in being close to the Savior who birthed the universe we live in! Let’s live different than so many around us, and thrive ourselves because His peace is flowing through our veins. And then with much peace to spare, we can pour shalom out onto the many God has us touch and encounter.
