Designed for Good Works

Ephesians 2:8-10

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not a result of works, so that no one may boast.  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”

When God fashioned our lives in our mother’s womb, He uniquely designed each of us.  Not only has God made us with unique physical, emotional and personality characteristics but He also designed us to accomplish particular things for Him. We were saved by God’s grace through faith in order to serve Him.  He has uniquely designed us to do good works that will be beneficial to others.

God has placed us here at this time and in this place to accomplish certain works for Him. Not everyone will be doing the same thing. We are not in competition with one another in our service for God.  He has designed us and placed us into service to compliment one another. Our Church is to be like a team, effectively serving the Lord. As we work together some of us will do children’s ministry, some will do visitation, some will be greeters, others will be adult teachers and various other ministries.  No one ministry is more important than another, but together we will be effective in reaching out to our world and ministering to one another.

As we serve the Lord we should experience joy and fulfillment.  Our lives will be a blessing to others as we accomplish the good works God has uniquely created and equipped us to accomplish.  Let us live our lives in faithful service to our Lord.

Prayer:  Lord, I want to live my life according to Your plan.  Help me to look beyond myself and see how my life and service complements others as we serve You.  Let us work together to reach our world for Christ and build up one another.  Amen
