Matthew 5:14-16

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

A City On a Hill

What is the role of the believers when the world gets even darker? Is it to complain? To hide? Or to shine? As vessels of the Holy Spirit of God, WE are the one redeeming seed in a fallen world. Our American culture tells us that we should focus on ourselves or “look out for #1,” but that is the opposite of Christ’s exhortation. Jesus even likens it to the absurdity of hiding a lamp under a basket. So today if you feel helpless with such cultural turmoil and strain in life, I want to remind you who you are. As a child of God you carry His seal and should be armed with Divine love as Healing Crusaders!

Some may shake their head in disbelief and choose to hide under their “basket,” but I say, what a moment for the saints to shine! I implore you family of God, join me on this daily quest, along with the Great Cloud of Witnesses who’ve gone before us and served in dark times as well.  Let’s partner with God to heal broken hearts and be a city on a hill!
