Welcome Home

"So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit." Ephesians 2:19-22

I'm not sure about you but I have a love, kinda love relationship with my family. Some of my family memebers are loud and bolsterous. Some of them are stubborn and REALLY challenging. Some of them are awkward and be a bit of a pain. Many come from different homes lives. Your family may be great or you may struggle to even be in the same room with them. Some have big families while others have really small families. No matter what though we all NEED family. And the Bible tells us that we have been given the "right" to become children of God.

So regardless of the amount of love we have for our personal families, Jesus offers us a place in His family. With that we ought to take time thinking about what it means to be a part of God's family as His child. In today's passage, we are reminded that the church is not a building, but it's the people. We are God's dwelling place. It's not a building - it's His children, it's His family. And it's in this community of believers that we also find a new home in Jesus.

It's when we really understand this, that we regularly seek opportunities to serve one another. We are called to do right by each other without growing weary. Let us not isolate ourselves or keep our church family out of important areas of our lives. Rather, may we pray and ask God how we can do good for the people in our spiritual homes this upcoming week.
