International Student Ministry

Campus Bible Church looks for ways to build bridges of relationships with international students living in our community and mobilizes and equips Christians to carry the love of Jesus Christ to these students.

When we love and serve international students we are reflecting the very character of God.  Most international students experience culture shock, loneliness, and difficulties with English. Having at least one good American friend can help ease their adjustment to the American culture.

Facts About Internationals in the USA

  • Every year in North America there are nearly 700,000 international students from nearly every country of the world studying on college campuses.
  • Tomorrow’s future world leaders are students in the United States today.
  • The way we treat International students on our campuses can have lasting consequences for our country.
  • Within 1 mile of Campus Bible Church there are over 400 international students from over 40 nations studying at Fresno State.

God has literally brought the world to our doorstep. Let’s invite them in!

International Student Fellowship

Over the years, Campus Bible Church has helped to support the ministry of the International Student Fellowship, a ministry of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. The International Student Fellowship holds a weekly Friday night dinner and Bible study for Fresno State international students.

VOLUNTEER TO BRING A MAIN DISH

One of the ways that Campus has partnered with the International Student Fellowship is through helping to provide food one Friday night a month (usually the 2nd Friday). Volunteers are asked to prepare a main dish to serve 10 and drop it off at the home where the ISF is meeting. You can volunteer to bring a meal once a month or occassionally. The meal contact for our church is Barbara Cook. She’ll be in touch with volunteers each month to line up enough dishes and give instructions.

International Friendship Program

The International Friendship Program is a matching program between international students at Fresno State with area community members.

The sole purpose of the program is to develop cross-cultural friendships. It is NOT a live-in program. Participants are simply asked to meet together a few times during the course of the semester for coffee, a meal, movies, shopping, etc. to develop their cross-cultural friendship and to share about their respective cultures. Students who choose to participate in the program are those who are genuinely interested in developing friendships.

The International Friendship Program is sponsored by the International Student Services & Programs office at Fresno State. Over the past 30 years the program has connected a few thousand students with Fresno community members.
