Buddy Program

Here are some frequently asked questions about participating in the program.

What is the Buddy Program?

It is a support system for children who are disabled, their parents, and their teachers.

What does a Buddy do?

Attend Sunday school class with the child and provide support for that child and his or her teacher.

What time commitment will be involved?

As little as 90 minutes per month (during either the 9am or 10:45am service).

How old do I have to be to be a buddy?

At least 16 years old (some exceptions may be made).

How will I know what to do?

Each new Buddy will receive information about the child’s disability that he/she will be serving. The parents will also give input about techniques that work well for their child.  To begin, a Buddy in training will shadow an experienced Buddy to learn about what is being done for the child already.

My child has a disability.  How do I get them set up with a buddy?

Contact Karon Cecy, our Children’s Ministry Director, and let her know that your child has a disability and is in need of classroom support and we’ll work on providing a great buddy!
